John Gilluly has over 18 years of industrial experience and 13 years of management consulting experience. His expertise includes working with companies to develop internal leaders and consultants, apply statistical problem solving techniques, and develop robust Quality and Management systems based on ISO and QS-9000 and Malcolm Baldrige standards.

John helps companies in their efforts to improve product productivity. He trains and facilitates improvement teams in companies as well as coaches managers in their efforts to become better leaders and improve responsiveness to internal and external customers needs.

He uses his expertise in understanding business systems to develop custom software and web sites that provide the highest return on investment. The software is designed, developed and implemented as a turnkey package that exceeds current needs while allowing for future growth. Development languages include Microsoft Visual Basic, Access, and FrontPage.

Developing and writing a majority of the training materials has allowed John to deliver high quality, participation based workshops in QS-9000, TQM, Auditing, Team Building, Effective Leadership, Problem Solving, Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, and Advanced Quality Planning.

His hands-on experience with industrial equipment and shop floor experience also enables him to quickly break down the traditional teacher-student barriers during workshops. John has been writing custom software applications since 1981. He initially authored a database and statistical analysis package to support internal quality reporting, tracking and Statistical Process Control during his employment at Carpenter Technology. Later he developed a number of custom applications focused at closed loop machine control to dramatically improve process capability. He is proficient in Microsoft products and excels in developing database applications that are simple to use and flexible.

Prior to starting Synergists, Inc. in 1997, John was a partner in PC Plus, LLC. He also served as the Vice President of Statimate Systems, Inc., a consulting firm from 1989-1994.

From 1984-1989 he worked as the High Temperature Alloy Metallurgists and Process Control Manager at Carpenter Steel in Bridgeport Connecticut. While at Carpenter, John successfully coordinated a synergistic implementation of Just-in-Time (JIT) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques into the management systems.

Mr. Gilluly graduated with honors from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science and a minor in Electrical Engineering in 1982. He continues to further his education through his professional involvement with TMS and ASQ and has received his Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQM) and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) from ASQ. He has also been certified as a Lead Auditor by an RAB accredited course offered by Statimatrix and has served as a Malcolm Baldrige Examiner. Additionally he has been recognized for attending Steven Covey's 7 Habits and Principle Centered Leadership training and William Conway's training on "The Right Way to Manage".

Interests and Hobbies
