Mr. Gareiss' primary roles and responsibilities are to work with organizations to select and retain people. Mr. Gareiss created a process that evolved over twenty-one years of working with hundreds of employees, called "Employer of Choice Strategies."
Mr. Gareiss designed the "Employer of Choice Strategies" for selecting and retaining people who "naturally fit" and perform well in an organization. It is a building process, that develops character and understanding of employee’s behavior as people, so that an organization has a work life culture that people enjoy working in. Employees simply continue to "choose" to work for that organization.
Mr. Gareiss’ other areas of expertise within the Synergists, Inc network include development of formal quality systems that encompass ISO/QS 9000, ISO/Guide 25, Total Quality Management (TQM), Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award, Continuous Improvement, Statistical Process Control (SPC), documentation writing, and auditing.
Mr. Gareiss is an experienced professional where his consulting services have evolved to combine his people and character building skills with his systems expertise. His passion is for people systems that develop the individual person to the point of "Joy of Ownership, Joy of Workmanship" * which in turn reinforces the organization purpose, vitality, and culture.
Mr. Gareiss practices and teaches a "Principle Centered Leadership" ** philosophy. He believes in a shared leadership approach recognizing the client as the expert in their business, and then using synergy, to bring out the best solution to meet or exceed the expectations of the client.

Mr. Gareiss has over 37 years of business ownership, management, marketing, sales, and employee involvement experience. Mr. Gareiss has employed between 2 and 300+ people and overseen a management staff of 30.
Mr. Gareiss began working in high school for Penguin Point Systems. He became a co-owner manager in 1963 of two stores in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At different times during his 21-year stay he co-owned other stores, supervised 10 stores totaling 300+ employees, and was responsible to develop new stores in Michigan.
Mr. Gareiss successfully developed employee, "people," systems that integrated values into the workplace allowing him to have the lowest turnover rate for five straight years in the 30 plus store chain of restaurants. Mr. Gareiss also achieved the highest company award for several years running in business management, cleanliness, control of business expenses, highest gross dollar increase and business profit in each year he won the award.
Mr. Gareiss has written business plans for start up, acquiring funds for capital equipment, inventory, credit lines, quality systems, income property, and relocating a client's business in another state.
Mr. Gareiss has owned and operated retail, mail order, service, and manufacturing businesses. Further he has worked as a factory employee, business owner, consultant and trainer in the retail video and food industries. Also in manufacturing, including automotive, water treatment, fiberglass, fabric, heat treat, forging, assembly, and metal stamping.
In 1982 Mr. Gareiss started Frontier Video, a video rental, which he owned until 1995. He was also a partner in Starr Instrument Service, Inc. from 1984-1991 and in 1984 he began a six-year stay at Myriad Enterprises where he was a partner. In 1988 he became a partner for Accuracy Instrument Service, a company specializing in precision instrument repair for manufacturers.
In 1991 Mr. Gareiss began working with Quality Improvement Systems and Consulting Service when he joined Statimate Systems Inc. After a two year stay there he formed Gareiss and Associates, a human resources, business management, and ISO documentation firm.
In 1996 Mr. Gareiss began working with Professional Consultants Plus, DBA Synergists, Inc and Catapult learning Systems. Mr. Gareiss has been very successful at employee retention strategies in each management or leadership position held involving selecting and retaining employees and continues to pursue this as his area of professional expertise.
From 1962-1964 Roger attended Indiana University / Purdue Extension taking Business Administration classes. During his business career he has attended classes at Lansing Community College. Roger completed a RAB Lead Auditor Course in 1996, Certified Quality Auditor in 1998 and was a Malcolm Baldridge Examiner in 1999. In 1999 he was also certified as a WorkLife and Character Works trainer.
Mr. Gareiss has attended workshops ranging from Train the Trainer and Training Needs Analysis, to Human Resources law and functional skills training.
Interests and Hobbies
Husband, father and parent of five children, grandfather of five grandchildren, member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 46, Peace Lutheran Church, American Society of Quality (ASQ), and enjoys model trains, fishing, racquetball and computer/desktop publishing.
